The University of East London is looking for a performance coach to support Andrew Foster, the UEL Team Manager, with the view to building on the success of the program’s first four years. WimX is the high performance tennis partner, and this role will involve working the current UEL players as well as those accessing through the AASE program.

The program runs at multiple venues including The Connaught Club, Lee Valley, and SportsDock (S&C).

This role is multi-faceted, which will involved both on and off court work, and will be two days per week over 25 weeks starting in September 2017. The hours will be daytime, and the daily rate will be £100. The coach will also have access to a pool car.

The suitable candidate will be a minimum of L3 and fully licensed with a full driving license. High playing standard or experience of working with high performing players is essential. We have to meet the short-listed applicants, so please do not apply if you are unable to attend a meeting in July.

This role can be stand-alone or combined with work for the WimX Academy to become a full-time role. Please state when applying what your preference would be.

Level 3 Coach required at WimX Academy

WimX is looking for an ambitious L3 coach to work across all our programs, including the performance academy starting in September 2017. WimX Tennis works out of several venues and this role would likely include work at The Connaught Club, Harlow and Felsted School.
This role will provide the opportunity to experience the many different types of tennis coaching out there.  It includes a mentored program which would ideally suit a young coach eager to learn and  trying to decide which direction they wish their career to take.
It is essential that the new coach can work as part of a team and for the good of the environments in which he/she is working.
The ideal candidate will be confident in running mini tennis groups, have a high playing standard and hold a Level 3 qualification, although we will consider anyone currently taking their Level 3.  The rate of pay will be set based on the individual’s experience and will increase as the coach develops. Strong administrative skills is a must.

WIMX Tennis Academy Strength & Conditioning Internship

The WimX Tennis Academy require an intern to support the coaching staff and players in the field of strength and conditioning.

This is a non-paid position working up to 16 hours in two, three of four blocks per week but has the potential to lead to a paid position. Duties will include preparing and delivering tennis specific sessions to academy players and is an opportunity to work directly with elite performance players.

Applicants will preferably have a degree in sport and exercise science and qualifications within the field of fitness and performance. Applications from people working towards such qualifications will also be considered. Applications from candidates looking for a sandwich year internship would be most welcome. For interns working over 6 month periods, some funding towards qualifications may be possible.

The intern will report directly to the Strength and Conditioning Manager and Academy Manager and will receive guidance and support from the S&C Manager concerning session content.

WIMX Tennis Academy Coaching Internship

The WimX Tennis Academy require a tennis coaching intern to support the coaching staff and players both on the court and possibly in the office.

This is a non-paid position but it will include funding for either L1 or L2 coaching qualifications and some personal tennis training. Various other qualifications may be added as part of this if appropriate. Duties will include assisting current tennis coaches and some administration work.

This position will last for 3 months, provided the intern with relevant experience and references and in some cases potential future work within the WimX tennis community.

Graduate Tennis Training Scholarship

The WimX Tennis Academy have teamed up with the University of East London to offer this unique package. Aimed at serious tennis players who are committed to fulfilling their potential this offer has been designed to allow playing the pro circuit with an education so a choice no longer needs to be made.

Successful applicants can receive free tennis training, coach support at tournaments, funding for tennis travel, full S and C program and tuition reduction.

The master’s degree is very flexible and can be taken over a number of years – exact details depend on the subject.

On top of this, extra income is possible through coaching and hitting work and coaching qualifications will also be provided.

Undergraduate scholarships are also available.
