Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties


This course is offered for FREE for those that meet the following criteria:

  • Live within 60 miles (as the crow flies) of Swindon
  • Be 19yrs or older on August 31st 2023
  • Have lived in England for the past 3 years

If you meet this criteria you can sign up with a payment of £25 deposit which will be returned on successful completion of the course.

About this qualification

Around 15% of people have a learning difficulty, which means they can find it harder to learn certain skills. The purpose of this qualification is to give learners knowledge of different Specific Learning Difficulties, You will learn about a range of specific learning difficulties, including ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia,  how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported.

Who is it suitable for?

As well as healthcare and social care contexts, the qualification is particularly suited for those working within training, coaching  and education where they may have clients that they want to support better by  building their knowledge of dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.

How is this qualification structured?

The qualification is delivered through an online portal and learners complete the work in their own time at home. The course takes approximately 7-10 hours to complete and learners will have access to tutor guidance and support throughout the course. To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units:

Unit 1 Understand Specific Learning Difficulties

Unit 2 Understand the effects of Specific Learning Difficulties

Unit 3 Understand the diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulties

Unit 4 Understanding supporting individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties

Unit 5 Understand the context of Specific Learning Difficulties
